Types of Korean Trains
Trains can be broadly categorized into two types: regular trains and high-speed trains.
ITX (Regular Train)

Before high-speed trains were introduced, this was the main train people used, but now it serves as a supplementary service to high-speed trains. With a maximum speed of about 150km/h, it takes approximately 5 hours to travel from Seoul to Busan. The number of services is significantly fewer compared to high-speed trains.
KTX (High-Speed Train)

This is currently the most popular type of train. Not only does it serve the Seoul-Busan route, but it also has an extensive network connecting Korea’s major cities. With a maximum speed of 330km/h, it takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to travel from Seoul to Busan. Because of its speed, it’s one of people’s most preferred long-distance transportation options.
